Our family, home and kennel

History of Sandy's Kennel: My husband and I have six children and raised pigs for fourteen years on our ten-acre farm north of Baldwin City, Kansas. The market for raising pigs suffered dramatically and forced our family out of the market place. Our family then had to make the decision to either move from the country living that we have always known or find another way to supplement our income. We held a family meeting and decided to begin raising puppies. We all love dogs and agreed that having a puppy farm would be fun! My husband Jim has always raised hunting dogs but now we would begin purchasing dogs that appealed to our family. In over 10 years of being a dog breeder, we enjoyed raising puppies so much that we expanded and grew from two breeds to 5 breeds (Japanese Chins, Shih Tzus, Yorkshire terrier, Pomeranians and Poodles). In 2005 my husband took a job relocation and with him we moved our family and kennel to Osawatomie Kansas. To date, four of our children are grown and moved away but, the remaining two are involved in helping my husband and I raise and care for our adult dogs and puppies. We feel very blessed that our family business has been successful in uniting wonderful families with their perfect puppy!
